Over the River and Through the Woods...

This past weekend my family had their first vacation get-away! We didn't go very far since it's hard to pack up and take all the nieces and nephews. We all went up to a cabin in Heber in Timberlakes for three days. It was all the kids, spouses, nieces and nephews, and both grandmas. It was so much fun! We left on the 24th and got up there around 1 or 2 in the afternoon. Oh my gosh the cabin was so far up the mountain I'm glad we had four-wheel drive. I'm sure during the winter you'd need a CAT to get up there. The cabin was great and slept 17 or so people so everyone had a bed or couch to sleep on. I didn't get a picture of the cabin...sorry. That night Nanna and Papa were in charge of dinner and we had tacos. (Every meal a family was in charge of...great idea and fun!) Zach and Chante brought up Chante's family's 4 wheelers so we rode those around a lot and just had fun playing the Wii and other games that night.

Friday we rented a "party boat." It was perfect because everyone could go on it. However, the boat topped out at 13 mph and didn't make any sharp turns. Tj attempted to wake board and he did get up but he couldn't do any tricks since there really was no wake. We still had fun and got some serious sun! (at least Ryan and I got fried)

Ryan didn't feel all that well, so instead of coming on the party boat, he spent most of the day on his own little boat. :)

Later that night we had our first "annual" Weber Family talent show. I really hope this doesn't turn into an annual thing. If it does, I guess we'll deal with it. :) It was fun, everyone had really cute and funny acts. Each family had to do something, so Ryan and I teamed up with Brooke and Tj. Tj was Richard 'Slimmons' and we did a Richard Simmons workout routine. We dressed up in 80's clothes and Tj had the short shorts and everything! It was pretty fun and hilarious. Ryan stuffed so many pillows in his clothes. He was the "fat kid" in the back. He mostly stuffed his face with doughnuts and attempted to do the moves we did but in the end gave up and just sat there. I was laughing so hard the entire time! Zach and Chante did a really cute magic trick and had Brecken stand there and say (while in a really cute pink frilly dress) "ta da!" Oh my gosh it was so cute!

Mel and Joe and their family did a really cute skit. Dan did some more impressive magic. The grandma's even had something prepared that was really cute. My mom and dad's was hilarious too! They came out and did a Sunny and Cher lip sync to "I Got You Babe."

My dad was funny looking with the wig and my mom looked pretty dang cute! Overall, the talent show was fun even though we're all convinced my mom got the idea from the movie "Dan in Real Life."

The next day we hung out in the morning and Ryan and I had breakfast to make for everyone. We made breakfast tacos and they were so yummy! Around noon we took off and all the boys went golfing and the girls went shopping. We hit the outlets in Park City and then the TJ Maxx there. The outlets were pretty disappointing (not too bad a deal since I didn't spend money then!) but the TJ Maxx there was great! After shopping and the boys were done with golfing we met up and went to the Pizza and Pasta place on old Main Street by the Deer Valley Resort. The pizza was so yummy! After that we went back to our cabin (it was raining and lightening) and had a little surprise birthday celebration for my dad. I really am so blessed to have him for my father. He's such a wonderful man and none of this weekend would have been possible without him. We had delicious cake to celebrate and opened presents. That night we watched movies and went to bed late. The next morning we woke up, cleaned, packed, and headed home! This was such a wonderful weekend and I'd totally do it again!

Scary, I know!

Sorry about the lame post title. This past week I have been in bed (for almost 4 days now) with huge puffy eyes (see picture above), a massive headache, dry mouth, and aching body. After about the third day I had my sister (who is an RN...I don't just ask anybody these things) call her doctor and ask what he thought my symptoms could be and how I should treat it. He said it was just allergies and a head cold. Bad combo...trust me, I know from experience. I've been taking so many pills! The only thing that would work for my headache was Maxal (GREAT stuff!) So it has been determined that I had an allergic reaction to a new mascara I tried. I've used Loreal Voluminous mascara for years and have loved it. Then me being thrifty (being a newlywed and all) saw a buy one get one free package of this new kind and thought I'd give it a try. Let's just say I'll go back to using my previous black eye goop.

Countdown til...

Okay, so I'm SO excited for the next book in Stephanie Meyer's series to come out in just 14 more days! I've been reading all the other books in the series to refresh my memory of the whole story line. My husband teases me for reading these books...but come on! Who couldn't use a good love story filled with vampires and werewolves?! :) I already have mine on pre-order and according to Wal-Mart it should "arrive on or just after August 2!"

Quick Little Trip

This past weekend, Ryan and I headed down to St. George for a little fun. Ryan had a softball tournament and so he left Friday morning and they played from 7pm til 5am!!! Yes, that's right, I said AM. They play during the night because it's so dang hot there. I didn't leave til Saturday morning because I had to work on Friday and that night was also my sister-in-law's birthday celebration. Gotta stick around for some cake! :) Our little trip was fun, but I didn't even get to see Ryan play a game! Once I got down there, Ryan pretty much slept the entire day, so my sister-in-law and I went and did some shopping and then came back for Ryan so we could go drop him off at his game. He played at 6pm and it was still hot outside, so Ryan suggested that me and his sisters go out for dinner and then come back to watch him play in a later game when it was cooler. So right in the middle of dinner, I get a call from my cute husband to inform me that he lost and they were out of the tournament! We were all really sad that we didn't get to see him play! Then we all headed back to Ryan's sisters place to play some games and eat a TON of junk food. (I think my stomach still hurts days later!) And then to top it all off, we slept on a twin bed! Yes, Ryan and I FIT on a TWIN bed; not comfortably, but we fit. The next morning we got up and headed back to lovely Orem. I was planning on taking some pictures of Ryan playing, but since I didn't see him play, no pictures...sorry. :)

Independence Day!

I've always loved the fourth of July...especially when it falls on a Friday and gives you a FOUR day weekend like this year did! Ryan and I had a great fourth of July weekend. I ran a 10k down in Springville at 7 in the morning with a friend and then met up with Ryan and his family at the Provo City parade. I have to admit, I'm not really a parade person...too many people and screaming children. After battling the traffic to get home Ryan and I finished a much needed project...painting our bedroom. I know, what a fun fourth of July activity. It really does look great now. After finishing that up, we headed down to Spanish Fork to have some BBQ with my parents and the family that was in town. We went to that Hawaiian shaved ice stand on main street....SO GOOD! Those things are freaking' huge AND they put ice cream in the bottom of your cup! I might just have to drive down there whenever I get a craving. :) We had the BBQ with the family and then headed over to Brooke and Tj's place and then met up with some friends on Traverse Mountain, just above Cabela's, to watch the fireworks at Thanksgiving Point. It was such a great day! And about the matching t-shirts...all I can say is that I have the most adorable husband...it was HIS idea. :)

Celebration!

Ok, so yesterday was mine and Ryan's one month anniversary. I know that's really not a historical marker of any sort seeing how we've got time and all eternity together. And I'm making this known that I will NOT be celebrating every monthly anniversary we have. From here on out it's only yearly. So since yesterday was our one month anniversary (holy crap time has gone by fast!) I decided I'd try something new...say... cooking! Yes, that's right. Since Ryan and I have been married I have NOT cooked a real meal. I did cook one of those Stauffers (sp?) Skillets things. (Those things are actually pretty darn good!) But really all that requires is to heat it up on the stove. AND I did bake some cookies...but I've never actually cooked a meal. So last night, I did! I so LOVE my cousin Stephanie's blog. I've been looking at her blog for a little while now and picking out things that I want to try making. So last night I made this and oh my gosh it was good! It's definitely not hard (totally my style). I didn't put that ham in it; I'm not a big fan of that part of the pig. I highly recommend her site. So happy one month anniversary Ryan and give me a gold star for FINALLY cooking!

'J' is for Jackson

So today's post is about another one of my favorite kids in the world! My first ever niece/nephew...Jackson. Oh my gosh there's so much I could say about this kid! First of all, I must say he is one the sweetest of the bunch. He is so sensitive to other's needs and he's so observant! It always surprises me how much little kids know without us even telling them! Jackson is so patient with Caleb when he's terrorizing him...that is until he gets to his breaking point. :) But even then, it's way past my OWN point at which I'd let him have it!
I will always remember Jackson calling me "Aunt Timmie" because he couldn't quite pronounce his 'K's yet. Oh my goodness how that would just melt my heart. I have so many fond memories of this boy because when I first came to college I would babysit him quite a bit! He is definitely a unique spirit in our family and we just wouldn't be the same without him. I can't believe he's getting baptized this year! I'm so getting old... Love you Jacks!
